Tips to Land that Summer Internship
Reference: Intern Queen
1. Revise your resume --
Nowadays, employers don't want to read through a novel of a resume. Narrow your's down to one page maximum, and have a friend or family member proofread it for spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes.
2. Start early --
Especially in competitive fields, summer internship opportunities can become available as early as October. Be on the lookout and give yourself enough time to shop around before all of your ideal postings are already filled.
3. Take risks --
Don't take the chance of missing out on an amazing internship opportunity just because the posting calls for specific majors, years, or experience. Apply anyway, and if you manage to land an interview, go and present yourself and your existing skills confidently.
4. Research, research, research --
Speaking of interviews, before you go to one, make sure you have thoroughly researched the company. Find out not only if their company values and culture align with what you're looking for, but also stockpile facts about their history, major projects, and awards to pull out during an interview.
